Other distinctive elements include the ornamental detailing around windows, known as tracery, as well as the tall and narrow openings called lancet windows. By the mid-19th century, a reinterpretation of the original style brought back its most iconic elements and combined them with new construction techniques. This gave rise to the Neo-Tudor movement, which soon crossed the Atlantic with European-trained architects promoting a fusion of tradition and modernity that continues to resonate with timeless elegance.
The Tudor Legacy in a Century-Old Casona
Scratch House’s main building symbolizes the point where history and modernity meet. Designed by Danish architect Morten Ronnow and built in 1920, it remains a living example of Tudor architecture in Córdoba’s Sierras Chicas. One hundred years later, the casona was carefully restored, preserving its original essence and converted into a boutique hotel. Today, five rooms have been refurbished to offer a warm and peaceful accommodation experience.
